Why one-on-one?

One size does not fit most. Each of us does better with different poses. Each of us does poses differently. Each of us will progress differently. I teach you poses that work for you in ways that do you good.

Regular practice on your own works and feels good. And coaching works to build successful practice. You do training for a while, and you get yoga for life.

Where?

Come to my office at the west edge of downtown Madison. Also available evenings and weekends. And I can also come to you.

How much?

I charge $50 per session. Work-study to fit your need available.

Who?

I teach you, all types of people, all ages, shapes, sizes, and abilities, beginners and experienced, and regularly work with people with injuries and disabilities. It works well even if you aren’t flexible. I teach you one-on-one, couples, small groups, and workplace groups.

I’m an old hand with a lot of experience with people. The plain-brown-wrapper style of this website is what I do: quiet easy-going skill that does good for you. I focus on what works for you, communicate clearly, and adjust details and difficulty to fit you. I start by listening to you and keep listening and adjusting as we go.

I ask questions. How are you moving and feeling? Show me how things feel. Are things connecting for you? How does work feel? Are you moving well in ways you enjoy?

You get yoga customized for you. We build progress, no pushing. I understand how yoga works and modify it to fit you.

You get a plan. Pose builds on pose. You can feel your progress.

You get a good teacher. I teach you specific to your needs and ability. I come well prepared and give you my total focus.

As a regular student you get your own web page. It shows your poses and plan and what we will do together next.

How does it work?

Regular yoga practice changes how we move and think. The deliberate feel of working at poses trains our nonconscious feel for ourselves which improves how we move all day. The poses practice us at better using our muscles and help us relax. The deliberate focus of doing poses trains our thinking.

Yoga becomes personal practice, training you give yourself and enjoy. Brief regular yoga improves your habits of moving in ways that feel good and help you feel good.

Yoga becomes a tool. Feel discomfort; you can ease it. Feel stress or tension; you can soften it. Feel distracted or distressed; you have a practice that helps you calm and focus.

How I teach

I make a customized plan for you and teach you step by step. I fit yoga to your needs. I teach you in a way that builds, you get better at it, and it feels good.

You improve with a little practice; it gets easier and does more for you. You get better at feeling yourself move and adjusting yourself. Learning new things comes easier.
